Montana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau recently drew a line in the sand with the No Child Left Behind Act.

In a recent letter to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Juneau announced her decision not to raise the target test scores that Montana schools must meet this year to avoid being labeled as failing under the federal law.

“Good for Denise,” stated MEA-MFT President Eric Feaver.

Left uncorrected, he said, the NCLB law will force every school in American to fail — no exceptions.

“It is way past time for the Obama Administration and Congress to make the necessary and appropriate corrections, without condemning Montana schools to a race against all odds to win unwinnable competitive grants.”
