Locally elected MEA-MFT members from all over Montana came to Helena for the annual Representative Assembly April 5 and 6.

The 308 delegates debated issues.  They celebrated outstanding member/leaders, including Michael Hoffman, Public Employee Member of the Year; Alex Schaeffer, Education Support Professional of the Year; and Marilyn Besich, Faculty Member of the Year.

Delegates heard from Governor Steve Bullock, Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau, and other elected officials. They got an update on MEA-MFT’s legislative agenda: “Pay Plan, Pensions, and Public Education.”

They even stumbled by accident into an historic, tumultuous legislative event in the state capitol. No doubt you heard about it on TV or in your local newspaper.

Delegates passed a budget and modest dues increase. “We did the business of our union,” said MEA-MFT President Eric Feaver.
