The wheels are in motion. As directed by our respective memberships, MEA-MFT and the Montana Public Employees Association (MPEA) are in the process of merging into one great union.

Saturday, January 20, 2018, is a key date in the merger process!

On that date, MEA-MFT will convene a SPECIAL one-day representative assembly at the Great Northern Hotel, Helena. Our special representative assembly will begin at 11:00 am and adjourn no later than 3:00 pm. Just four hours total.

MPEA will convene a concurrent special annual meeting at the same time, date, and place.

Our two unions are meeting with one goal in mind. The last two regular MEA-MFT representative assemblies and MPEA annual meetings first directed our two unions to discuss merger and then to merge respectively by mid-year 2018.

Pursuant to those directives, officers and staff from our two unions have met at length and prepared a constitution for a new union.

The purpose of our special assemblies January 20, 2018, is to consider and adopt the constitution.

When our two unions adopt the proposed constitution, we are absolutely on the merger road and expect to be officially one new union by September 1, 2018.
