OPA

DPHHS Office of Public Assistance Employees (MFPE Local 7793) is a state wide local, comprised of Client Service Coordinators, Client Service Technicians, and Trainers employed with the Office of Public Assistance from all over the state of Montana. As a former local within MPEA, we came into the merger with MEA-MFT to form MFPE with a difference in governing and the goal to transition into a more member driven and transformational model. In May 2019, the conversation picked up and by June 2019, a work-shopped version of the current constitution was sent to membership and voted in by the majority of our membership. Soon after MFPE headquarters assisted in the democratic process of electing officers and a board of directors. In November 2019, the newly elected board negotiated and came to agreement with management regarding our 2019-2021 contract. This included several victories, the largest being a long overdue adjustment to base pay rates for our agency.

As a local, we advocate for our members in a multitude of ways, including work place representation, grievance assistance, collectively bargaining for better wages/benefits/working conditions, and the list goes on.
